Meet the Team
Jacob Hogg as Disrel.
Jacob Hogg is a Cincinnati, Ohio-based voice actor who specializes in narration and animation projects. His lifelong love of sci-fi and fantasy genres of novels, video games, and TTRPGs led him to explore the world of storytelling through Audiobooks and character performance. During his tenure at Miami University, Jacob performed in several productions at the Oxford Community Theater; including starring as a leading role in an adaption of Nicholson’s The Retreat from Moscow. During his pursuit of an M.S. in Chemical Engineering at the University of Cincinnati, Jacob co-founded the streaming TTRPG and Improv group The Collegiate Crusaders where he performed as Game Master for four years. Today, he moonlights as a VO Artist with the goal of one day sitting at the table with today’s most influential TTRPG voice acting legends.

Sara Raftery as Sable Commander Ambrosia.
Sara is a model and actor based in Los Angeles, California. Acting runs in her blood as her aunt was Melissa Gilbert’s stunt woman in “Little House on the Prairie” and her father did Gene Wilder’s bull stunts in the 1980 flick “Stir Crazy.” As a lover of beer, bread, and all things “nerdtastic,” Sara is excited to give Ambrosia the voice she deserves.
Gene Chaban is our sound designer and field recordist who immigrated to the US from Ukraine. He has cultivated a vast library of sound effects and will be creating custom sounds to bring the Tourmaline Renegade’s world to life. In 2012 he graduated from Brooklyn College with a BS in Psychology, but in 2017, enrolled in the Berklee College of music to study audio engineering. In 2021, he graduated with an Electronic Production and Design major, and a minor degree in Sound Design for Video Games. In his free time, he enjoys hanging out with his cat, hiking, making music, and cooking.

This team doesn’t put their scripts through an AI that generates a mimicry of their voices. They will be acting in studio to bring you the highest quality in dramatization & audio narration and sound design.
When you support this project by pre-ordering your audiobook, you are supporting the careers and livelihoods of this incredible team of audio artists.
Why Dramatized & Soundscaped?
Custom sound-scaping, SFX, and dramatization creates an immerse, transformative experience. Your interaction with the story will include:
- corecycles racing down the roadways
- the Tourmaline Renegade’s garment transitioning color
- the ability to see the light of Thelis through sound
- an arena of 100,000 people chanting for blood
- the songs of birds and other wildlife unlike those in our world
Each sound will be unique, so you won’t hear the same “punch” or “grunt” sound in each fight scene, adding complexity, nuance, and realism to your experience.
The addition of waves, wind, rain, thunder, fire, and other natural elements will reveal deeper meaning in places you might have missed! This allows readers to better connect themes and draw meaning from the story.
Don't Settle for Listening.
Live the Story.
“Birthright of Scars is my comfort read. I haven’t found another book that hits the same so I keep coming back and reading it again and again,” a reader from Maryland told me after she drove two hours to see me in person at a book signing.
“BOS reconnected me with my faith, and I don’t know where I’d be right now if I hadn’t read it,” another reader told me in a DM. “Thank you.”
“Thank you for writing these books.”
“Thank you for showing me hope.”

Imagine how much more powerful and impactful this story will be in the lives of readers when it comes to life in audio.

Where Will the Audiobook Be Available For Me to Listen?
You will be given a Claim Code a few weeks prior to the release date. This claim code will allow you to download your audiobook from LaurisaBrandt.com or from another streaming platform.
At that time, there will be two versions of “Birthright of Scars: Rising” in audio: the soundscaped/dramatized version and the basic audiobook ideal for listening at higher speeds. Your code will only match the audiobook experience you preordered.
Both versions will be available for purchase and preorder redemption direct through my WEB STORE.
One of those audiobooks will be published wide, and eventually become available in library systems through the Libby app, and available to purchase through Libro.fm. I may publish it to other platforms, such as Spotify.
It is possible that the second version may be listed exclusively on Audible, in which case, all preorders for that version will receive Audible codes.
