Meet the Voices
Jacob Hogg as Disrel.
Jacob Hogg is a Cincinnati, Ohio-based voice actor who specializes in narration and animation projects. His lifelong love of sci-fi and fantasy genres of novels, video games, and TTRPGs led him to explore the world of storytelling through Audiobooks and character performance. During his tenure at Miami University, Jacob performed in several productions at the Oxford Community Theater; including starring as a leading role in an adaption of Nicholson’s The Retreat from Moscow. During his pursuit of an M.S. in Chemical Engineering at the University of Cincinnati, Jacob co-founded the streaming TTRPG and Improv group The Collegiate Crusaders where he performed as Game Master for four years. Today, he moonlights as a VO Artist with the goal of one day sitting at the table with today’s most influential TTRPG voice acting legends.
Sara Raftery as Sable Commander Ambrosia.
Sara is a model and actor based in Los Angeles, California. Acting runs in her blood as her aunt was Melissa Gilbert’s stunt woman in “Little House on the Prairie” and her father did Gene Wilder’s bull stunts in the 1980 flick “Stir Crazy.” As a lover of beer, bread, and all things “nerdtastic,” Sara is excited to give Ambrosia the voice she deserves.
Jarman Day as Emperor Cinnabar, Mored, Callon, & Vogin
Jarman Day is a 2-time Peabody Winner with much experience in classical and modern acting for stage and comedic plays, musicals, and film, as well as stage combat and Renaissance dance. He obtained his degree in Film and Television at Boston University, then honed his craft abroad with the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-Upon-Avon, England. His diverse training and experience adds a professional and entertaining quality to his audiobook narration, of which, he has an impressive portfolio of titles. And we are excited to have his talent and skills bringing these four powerful men to life.
Meet the Sound Design
Gene Chaban is our sound designer and field recordist who immigrated to the US from Ukraine. He has cultivated a vast library of sound effects and will be creating custom sounds to bring the Tourmaline Renegade’s world to life. In 2012 he graduated from Brooklyn College with a BS in Psychology, but in 2017, enrolled in the Berklee College of music to study audio engineering. In 2021, he graduated with an Electronic Production and Design major, and a minor degree in Sound Design for Video Games. In his free time, he enjoys hanging out with his cat, hiking, making music, and cooking.
Gene will be custom designing ambient atmosphere and sound effects for our Immersive Audiobook version, and performing basic audio design for our Traditional Audiobook version.
In the Immersive Audiobook, each sound will be unique and tailored to the setting, so you won’t hear the same “punch” or “grunt” sound in every fight scene, adding complexity, nuance, and realism to your experience. What I personally love about Gene’s work, is that the SFX and atmospheres don’t overrule the dialogue and narration, as is the complaint of many Graphic Audio listeners. As you can hear in the Audio Demo, the atmospheres and sound effects don’t compete with the narration and acting, providing a beautiful blend of Traditional and Immersive audio styles. We believe you’re in for a real treat with the ASMR-like quality of the audio worlds Gene builds.
Regardless of which audio version you choose to purchase, you’ve gifted yourself an incredible audio experience.
Meet the Musical Composer
Archie Benton is a British film and television composer based in the UK, specializing in diverse genres ranging from superhero fan films to dark, emotive projects. He has scored multiple internationally recognized films, with notable works including Batman: Hope, The Man They Call King, and Web of Spider-Man. We are incredibly excited to have him create musical pieces that capture the theme and heart of “Birthright of Scars: Rising.”
Meet the Producer
Laurisa Brandt is a NYC Big Book Award and Independent Press Gold winning author and Graphic Illustrator. Her digital paintings and maps decorate the pages of her published works. She is overseeing the “Birthright of Scars: Rising” Immersive Audio project from start to finish, in addition to developing a spin-off trilogy. When not writing, she can be found baking and cooking, taking walks in nature, or chilling with her adopted Timneh African Grey, Hercules.
This team doesn’t put their scripts through an AI that generates a mimicry of their voices. They will be acting in studio to bring you the highest quality in dramatization & audio narration and sound design.
When you support this project by pre-ordering your audiobook, you are supporting the careers and livelihoods of this incredible team of audio artists.
Don't Settle for Listening.
Live the Story.
“Birthright of Scars is my comfort read. I haven’t found another book that hits the same so I keep coming back and reading it again and again,” a reader from Maryland told me after she drove two hours to see me in person at a book signing.
“BOS reconnected me with my faith, and I don’t know where I’d be right now if I hadn’t read it,” another reader told me in a DM. “Thank you.”
“Thank you for writing these books.”
“Thank you for showing me hope.”
